As part of Northants Cricket’s pre-season tour, the team took on Warwickshire in a two-day game, giving both sets of players the chance to impress the coaches with both bat and ball, on what was a flat track.
Northants batted on the first day and reached 280 for 7. The high scorer for Northants was David Sales with 67, there was also notable innings by Rob Keogh who finished unbeaten on 64 and club Captain Stephen Peters who scored 47.
The bowling was quite evenly spread out for Northants on the second day with none of the eight bowlers bowling more than fourteen overs. Muhammad Azhar Ullah was the star of the bowling attack with figures of 4 for 40 from his thirteen overs. Northants however could only limit Warwickshire to 290, thanks to Rikki Clarke’s 79.
Next up for Northants will be another two-day game this time against a Barbados XI starting on 21st March, which will be team’s final game in Barbados.
