As part of their pre-season preparations, Northants travelled up to Trent Bridge to take on Nottinghamshire in a two day friendly game.
The two sides agreed to have one team bat two sessions and then bowl one session on both days, to get the most of their time on the pitch. Northants batted two sessions yesterday and Captain Stephens Peters really led from the front, who retired during lunch when he was on 78 to give the other batters some time in the middle. There were other notable contributions from Rob Newton who looked in fine form scoring 42 and Rob Keogh who was out for 35, as Northants finished on 237 for 7 after 60 overs.
In reply, Muhammad Azhar Ullah was very unlucky having two edges beat first and second slip. Nottinghamshire ended the day on 93 for 3, with Stone, Hall and Coetzer all taking one wicket apiece, and all of the bowlers feeling very proud of their efforts during the final session.
The bowlers will want to continue this fine form in Day Two of the game as Nottinghamshire are scheduled to bat for 60 overs during the day.
