Day one of the pre-season friendly between Northants and Leicestershire was played at Grace Road, with Northants bowling for the first 60 overs before batting in the final session.
Northants started out strongly getting two early wickets, before Dan Redfern came in and was able to add calm into the Leicestershire innings. Redfern was the star of the Leicestershire innings scoring 111 before he was trapped lbw by Andrew Hall.
Maurice Chambers was the pick of the Northants bowlers recording figures of 3 for 41, as well as Crook who took 2 wickets for 70 runs. Whilst Andrew Hall and Graeme White took one wicket each.
James Middlebrook was the highest scorer from Northants, as he scored his second consecutive half century before being bowled by Raine. Matthew Spriegel was also very impressive scoring an unbeaten 40 as Northants ended on 113 for 2.
Today Northants will play their first game at the County Ground in 2014, as they bat for 60 overs and bowl for 30 against Leicestershire once again.
