On day one of the pre-season game between Northants and Yorkshire, Max Levine who plays for the Northamptonshire Under-16’s team, got the chance to be wicket keeper for Yorkshire.
England wicket keeper Jonny Bairstow injured his finger going for a catch down the leg side and was unable to continue. Whilst Adam Lyth briefly put on the gloves, Yorkshire learnt that the Under-16’s team were training in the Lynn Wilson Centre.
This gave young Max the opportunity of a life time, as he borrowed some kit from Jonny Bairstow, who was last seen playing for England in Australia, and go behind the stumps for Yorkshire.
On the experience, Max said, “Playing with world-class cricketers at my home ground, Wantage Road, was an amazing experience and a dream come true.” Max did himself proud, not looking out of place, and will remember this day for a long time.
