Following the tense draw with Durham here at the County Ground earlier this week, Northants travel up to Leeds to take on LV= County Championship favourites, Yorkshire.
Head Coach David Ripley will be wanting his team to pick up some more early season points, against yet another tough opponent. Last time out, the stand out players for Northants were; Matthew Spriegel who scored 97 in the first innings, James Middlebrook who got a five-fer in the second innings as well as scoring important runs at the top of the order in both innings, and Rob Newton who saw the team through to the finish.
When Yorkshire visited the County Ground during pre-season, their stand out player was Alex Lees, who is talked about as a possible England opener in the near future. Yorkshire have a plethora of big name players captained by Andrew Gale, with the likes of Gary Ballance, Kane Williamson, Adil Rashid and former Steelback Jack Brooks all at their disposal.
In their last game Yorkshire drew with Somerset at Taunton, as Rashid impressed scoring a century, whilst Liam Plunkett was the stand out bowler taking four wickets on a pitch that favoured the batsmen.
David Ripley will be taking a 13-man squad up to Headingley on Sunday, as David Sales has recovered from a calf injury to be available for selection and Olly Stone is also part of the squad after scoring a century in a second team game during the week.
There are no injuries to report following the game against Durham. Ben Duckett is still struggling with a knee injury, whilst Rob Keogh had an operation on his broken finger earlier this week and James Kettleborough hasn’t recovered from his broken finger yet.
