Northants return to LV= County Championship action this weekend, as they travel up to Trent Bridge to take on Nottinghamshire.
Northants have struggled so far this season, losing to a James Anderson inspired Lancashire last time out by just 60 runs, in a real see-saw battle here at the County Ground. However last week Northants gained some good momentum as they defeated Durham MCCU by 159 runs.
Nottinghamshire sit just a few places above Northants, having won one, drawn two and lost one so far this season. Their sole victory came against Lancashire in the first week by 45 runs.
Last time out Nottinghamshire travelled to Taunton to take on Somerset, the game ended in a draw on what was a very good batting wicket. Samit Patel and Phil Jaques were the stand out players for Nottinghamshire, with both scoring a half century and a century in their two innings.
Northants will have to be wary of Nottinghamshire’s attack as well, with Australian Test player Peter Siddle and Andy Carter being ones to watch, with Carter having taken 15 wickets already this season.
Good news for Northants, as many of the squad have recovered from injuries they had picked up during the first month of the season.
David Sales comes into the 12-man squad after recovering injury and scoring 87 against Durham MCCU last week.
Maurice Chambers also comes into the squad, replacing Olly Stone who injured a finger last time out against Lancashire.
