The ECB announces international dates and venues for 2015 summer with Northampton set to host Australia over three days.
ECB today announced the full international programme for the summer of 2015 which will see England host tours by New Zealand and Australia.
Northants will face Australia over three days here at the County Ground, starting on Friday 14th August. This will continue Northants’ history of welcoming touring sides to the County Ground, with Australia having visited Northampton every time they have had an Ashes Series in England since the 1980’s.
David Smith, Chief Executive of Northants Cricket said, “We are delighted to have been awarded a three day tourist game against Australia. It reflects the large ongoing commitment and investment in our cricket facilities by the club over the past few years.
Touring teams of the calibre of Australia want to come to play cricket at Northants, as we have one of the best practice facilities both outdoor and indoor in the country. It is also a big boost for the town’s local economy, as we expect a lot of visitors to visit the Town to watch the cricket.”
ECB Chief Executive David Collier said: “Next summer promises to be a hugely exciting international season with England’s bid to regain the Ashes set to be one of the major highlights of the sporting year.”
