Rob Newton enjoyed a good 2011 season with the bat, scoring 454 runs at 42 from 7 Championship matches and was awarded with a new two year deal in October 2011 as a reward for his progress. Rob is one of a host of academy youngsters who are stepping up and playing well in the Northants 1st XI. Rob already has two centuries to his name including a top score of 113, scored against Middlesex in August. the 21-year-old is seen as a very exciting batting prospect for the county's future.
