Dr. Carl Petersen PhD, CSCS, Sport Scientist / Strength & Conditioning Coach
Carl is responsible for the fitness of the Professional Squad, the Northants Academy and athletes on the Emerging Players Programmes. This includes the design and implementation of all strength and conditioning training programmes, the monitoring of fitness improvements, and assessing athletes strengths and weaknesses. In-season, the monitoring of athlete fatigue levels from matches is critical for determining the appropriate balance between recovery interventions and training load. Carl is also responsible for the implementation of sport science practices (including heat acclimation prior to overseas tours), and supervising the work of fitness and sport science interns, as well as external fitness related consultants. Carl's PhD thesis is titled: Elite Cricket Match and Training Demands and Performance Enhancement in Hot / Humid Environments. Carl is well published in international journals with more than 10 peer reviewed articles in Cricket. Carl's previous experience has included working for 3 years as a PhD Sport Scientist for Cricket Australia.
